margaret’s hope house

Margaret Wakefield

Margaret’s House of Hope is named after Late Margaret Wakefield from Adelaide, South Australia. Margaret cared for children all her life as a primary school teacher for more than 30 years. She loved to travel, learn about other cultures and meet people and supported Project Hope South Sudan for 10 years, before her passing in 2021. Her daughter Ally wanted to leave a legacy to her Mum by building this House of Hope for girls in Aweil, South Sudan.

The diagram above showed the stages of building the fence around the girl’s house. The fence would provide security to the girls in this orphanage centre. The orphanage centre is meant to be self-contained. A well has been dug in the compound to provide clean water and a shop will be built to generate extra income for the girls. If we get more money, the grass-thatched house will be upgraded to a permanent or semi-permanent structure. Please be part of this story by donating using the button below.
